Barclay Rae is a Service Management author and consultant with 35 years’ experience working with SDI – right back to the early HUG and CSM days. He started as a HUG member in 1989 and progressed to consulting in 1994, working in various capacities with SDI since that time. Barclay is an SDI associate – auditor, consultant and standards co-author.

He also works as an independent author and consultant with many different organisations on ITSM, ESM, management and leadership projects. He has been a member of the ITIL architect team since 2015 and is a co-author of ITIL 4. Barclay has also worked with other industry organisations and vendors, as was CEO of itSMF from 2015- 2018. He also co-hosts the Enterprise Digital Podcast and has broad experience in podcasts and video presentation.

Barclay has been involved in industry projects with SDI including Service Futures, ITSM TV and numerous events and conferences. He received the itSMF lifetime achievement award in 2023.
